Show More Appointments & Links on Sense 2.5 Home Screen
Here’s a very practical hack for Sense 2.5 users that involves expanding the amount of appointments displayed on the home screen. By default, Sense 2.5 only shows your next appointment, which isn’t so useful for busy people. Thanks to co0kiemonster, from XDA-developers, we can now display up to 4 appointments on the home screen. On top of that, the 9 quick links have been expanded to either 16 or 20 shortcuts depending on your preference. Due to limited space, you may be wondering how it’s possible to have the best of both worlds. Well, here’s how it works
After installing the CAB, it will appear that nothing has changed, except the added quick links at the bottom of the screen. However, you’ll find that if you swipe down on the screen, it will now expand the list of appointments. Swiping upwards on the screen will rotate to show all quick links as usual. If you swipe up one more time from there, it will actually display a clean page where it shows only the date and a small clock at the very top. The transitions for showing appointments and quick links have animations, so it will seem quite natural. Notice that there is now support for multi-line text labels for quick links (long words will be broken up though).
The screenshots below show the hack with the default 20 quick links enabled, the clean page and also the grid view that’s now present when you add programs. If you’d like to change the amount of quick links from 20 to 16, like in the screenshots above, you can do that via a simple registry edit. Just use your favorite registry editor and navigate to “HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareHTCManila,” then go to “Co0kie.QuickLinksMode” and change the value from 1 to 0.
This hack is only compatible with Sense 2.5 (1920, 1921, 1922.3829). Unfortunately, it’s only partially working with 2.5.1922.2911, though a fix is expected soon. You can check which version of Sense you’re running by going to the settings tab, followed by “About Phone,” and then “Software Information.” Grab the CAB for the extended appointments and shortcuts from XDA-developers.
UPDATE: a new version has been released, which adds sliding panels to the home tab to give users an incredible 48 quick links. Watch our video demo of the beta.
