Turn Your Windows Phone into a Nightstand Alarm Clock

Herm’s Software has released a new app that turns your Windows phone into a digital alarm clock for your nightstand. It might seem unnecessary to some, since most UIs feature a clock on the Home screen, but there are many users who’ve wanted an app to emulate a real digital alarm clock. By this, we mean a clock with large numbering that stays illuminated and is easy on the eyes; something that can be viewed with a quick glance in the middle of the night.

Herm’s Software’s “Nightstand” has all the bells and whistles of a traditional digital alarm clock. All the usual suspects are displayed: time, day of the week and alarm on/off status. They sit on top of a black backdrop, just like a regular digital clock. Placing it on a nightstand or propping it up on a desk may make you forget that it’s your phone – thanks to the clock it displays.

The clock stays lit and will auto-dim if left idle. The alarm features 8 sounds and a 5 minute snooze button. Colors can be customized using 3 sliders, there’s 12/24 hour mode toggling, and the app can be set to auto-run on AC connection. Nightstand is free and supports VGA, WVGA, QVGA, and WQVGA resolutions. Get it directly from Herm’s Software (must register to access CAB) or on the discussion thread at XDA-developers.
