iPhone Beats Out Windows Phone in US in ComScore Survey

To track mobile smartphone ownership and usage, various different different analysts use different methods; for ComScore, which surveys the number of phones in the US per month, the iPhone finally beats out Microsoft’s Windows Mobile in the US. Research in Motion with the BlackBerry is still the market leader in the land of Stars and Stripes, but Google Android is poised for some growth in the near future. The potential delay–if we can call it that since Windows Mobile 7 has yet to be announced–for Windows Mobile 7 may put Microsoft in a bind as it plays catch up to some of the burgeoning technology trends on the market today, including support for capacitive touchscreens.

The information provided by ComScore should still be taken with a grain of salt as surveys the total OSes on the market by sampling a population; it does not necessarily indicate performance as number of units sold in the October period.
