Acer F1 (S200) Sports Custom Today Screen

After digging a little deeper into the service manual of the Snapdragon-based Acer F1 (or the S200 as we know it now), we’ve found some software changes that Acer has made to Windows Mobile 6.5.

Chief among them is the revamped Today screen, which leaves a lot to be desired (why didn’t they just leave the Titanium Today screen in place?). Seen below, there is grid of customizable shortcuts, but no way to see your next appointment, weather, or any other things you care about. Below that is a quick link to open the “Windows Home Screen” (huh?), customize the icons, and lock the device.

Beyond that, we get a peep into typical Acer software, which we’ve always found to be lacking in elegance (whether it be the older V900 or the newish M900). The S200 seems to be no exception, sadly, with skin-deep skinning of Windows Mobile that lacks in quality that we’re used to seeing from Samsung, HTC, and others.
