Google Latitude for Stalking Friends

Google is bringing the social to its Google Maps service with location sharing information to authorized friends from your Google account. This lets you know where your friends are if they also have a GPS-enabled phone with the free software installed.

The client is available now for Windows Mobile users–just go to google.com/latitude on your browser. No smartphone? No problem. You can enable the feature on your iGoogle portal on your desktop by going to the same link.

The client is also available for Symbian, BlackBerry, and Android platforms. Google says that it expects that Latitude will hit the iPhone soon. Whether that mans that the platform will be available as a separate app download from the iTunes App Store or built into the iPhone’s Maps application is unknown.

You can read more about Google Latitude from the Google Mobile Blog.

Update: Brandon and Adam tried out the service this afternoon, and below is a screenshot from Adam’s Touch Diamond.
