“Forget about the Mobile Browser” and more from the Future

Forget about the mobile web browser. It sucks. They all suck. There is no way anybody is going to ever make huge desktop-designed cluttered web pages easy-to-use on a tiny mobile phone screen (without reformatting the data), and according to statistics, most people don’t have any interest in viewing web pages on a phone.

I apologize for using the “i” word, but some of you might say, “What about the iPhone? Apple tells me it’s cool to have the real internet on a phone.” Well, all that double tapping to zoom, pinching and expanding fingers, dragging and panning… that’s not easy. That’s a lot of work, and it’s annoying. I want the information I want now, and I want it readable.

So what do we do? Forget about the web browser. Read on for more thoughts about the future of the mobile internet.
