Phonescoop is reporting that FCC Chairman Kevin Martin wants to make some revisions to the 700 MHz rules in light of Verizon Wireless’ opposition to the open spectrum auction, which would have enabled non-wireless parties like Apple and Google to get into the wireless game.

The 700 MHz is a valuable spectrum of wireless space as it can more easily penetrate through walls and buildings, providing for increased reception in buildings and structures. The FCC also wants to keep some form of this spectrum available for open access.
